FAQs

When does the course start?

We run cohorts periodically throughout the year, usually in September and February. Please check the application page for the next available date.

How does the application process work?

Once you’ve submitted your application, we will notify you with your acceptance status as soon as possible. When you are accepted, we will send you a link to payment via credit card or invoice. Payment is due in full prior to the course start date.

How much does this course cost?

The cost of the course is a one time fee of $5000 which includes the live course with Melissa Perri; access to our Circle community to review materials and connect with others; access to our slack channel full of over 260 alumni; 1:1 networking opportunities with mentors and alumni; and ongoing panels with industry experts. You will retain access to the panels, slack community, 1:1 networking, and Circle after the course is complete.

Who is this class for?

This class is specifically for experienced Product Leaders in scaling or scaled companies. This means you have at least 5 years of experience in Product Management, and are already leading a team of other product managers. In the United States, that means you may hold a Senior Director, Vice President, or Chief Product Officer title. In Europe, you may be called a Head of Product. We assume you are well versed in the basics of Product Management, and are looking at how to lead it across an entire company or division. This class will not cover the role the solo Product Manager/Head of Product in very early stage startups. We understand that is an important role as well, but our curriculum is geared for scale. This class is also not for consultants, as we focus on building long term relationships in your executive team.

Who will be joining me in class?

Depending on demand, we will aim to organize course participants based on their experience level and company stage. If your profile doesn’t align with the applicants in this first round, we will reserve your spot for the next applicable course start date. There will be a maximum of 20 students in each class.

I’ve been accepted to the program- what happens next?

Once accepted, you will meet with one of our course instructors for a one-on-one assessment interview. The results of this assessment will provide you with a stronger understanding of your skills profile. Use this knowledge to hone in on the topics that need improvement during the course, and help fellow students during discussion sessions when your areas of expertise are covered.

How is the course structured?

Once we have a full class, we’ll do our best to coordinate our lecture schedule through the surveys you filled out during the application. Class will meet every two weeks via Zoom, beginning with a 90 minute lecture from Melissa Perri. She will assign you practical takeaways from each lecture that should be applied directly to your real work over the next few weeks. These low-intensity exercises should only take up one or two hours of your time, and you can reach out to your coaches between lectures for feedback. Come to class ready to share your experience - immediately following each lecture, you will join an open discussion and critique that will cover learned concepts and activities from the previous week.

How do the webinars work?

Your class will join a live webinar each month led by one of our guest experts, all of which are experienced CPOs or executives. You can ask questions in real time, tap into their expansive knowledge base, and have a chance to expand your network as you get to know them.  As this course continues and our community grows, you will still be able to attend these webinars. Just note that Q&A privileges will be prioritized for currently-enrolled students.

In addition to the webinars, how can I engage with the CPO Network?

Our program will be hosted on a private networking application that will allow you to ask questions of the CPO Network through forums, direct messages, and other interactions. The CPO Network is excited to share their expertise and lessons learned with you.

What time will class be held?

During the application process we ask all our participants what time they would be able to attend class in their time zones. We will be holding class times around your schedules, and will choose the final time based on the preference of the class. We can’t guarantee that we will be able to accommodate everyone, but we will try.

What if I can’t fit the lecture times into my schedule after I’m accepted?

If this is the case, you can choose to defer your enrollment to a future course start date.

What if I have to miss a lecture?

We will record all lectures, so you can choose to watch them at a later date if you can’t attend. Please note course recordings will only be available for 30 days.

What are the expected outcomes of this course and how can I measure success?

We expect all of the participants to be able to level up their skills to better perform at a leadership and executive level. This means you will create and deploy growth strategy more effectively, know how to teach your teams to leverage data to drive decisions, understand how to develop a high performing product team, and be more polished in future executive team and board presentations. Of course, these are our goals for you, but like any good course you will get out of it what you put in.

Is this program appropriate for leaders of service companies or consultants?

The CPO Accelerator is designed for product leaders within scaling technology companies or larger corporations. It is not designed for product consultants or individuals who are leading services companies. If you are interested in expanding your knowledge of Product Management, we recommend enrolling in Product Institute, our online school.

Level up your skills with CPO Accelerator and take your seat at the executive table with confidence.
